Terms of Service

Last updated: September 25, 2026 · Privacy Policy →
These Terms govern your use of Garix.io (the "Game", "Service"), including the game client, accounts, virtual currency, purchases, and social features (friends, leaderboard, notifications). By creating an account or playing Garix, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service.

1. Acceptance of These Terms

Garix.io is a free-to-play, browser-based multiplayer game. These Terms of Service ("Terms") are an agreement between you and the operator of Garix ("we", "us", "Garix") covering your use of the game client, your account, in-game virtual currency ("Coins"), purchases, and the social features of the Service (usernames, friends, leaderboard, notifications, and related tools).

By connecting to Garix, creating an account, or playing, you accept these Terms and our Privacy Policy. We may update these Terms from time to time — see §17.

2. Eligibility & Age

You must be at least 13 years old to create a Garix account. If you are under the age of majority in your jurisdiction, you may only use Garix — and in particular, make any real-money purchase — with the involvement and consent of a parent or legal guardian, who agrees to these Terms on your behalf where required.

The client does not currently ask for a birthdate or enforce an age gate at signup. The 13+ minimum stated here is a standard default (matching common practice under COPPA/GDPR) for a game that never knowingly asks under-13s for personal data — it should be reviewed and, if needed, backed by an actual age-check flow before this document is treated as final.

3. Your Account

Garix does not have its own username/password system. You sign in exclusively through a third-party identity provider — currently Google or Discord — using OAuth. We never see or store your provider password. Successful sign-in issues a session token that authenticates you to Garix for up to 7 days at a time.

  • You're responsible for keeping access to your Google/Discord account secure — anyone with access to it can access your Garix account and everything in it (Coins, skins, friends, purchase history).
  • One Garix account per person. Creating additional accounts to evade a ban, manipulate the leaderboard, farm free rewards (starter pack, level-up boosts), or abuse the friend coin-transfer feature is not allowed and may result in action against all related accounts.
  • You choose a public username (separate from paid cosmetic nicknames, see §6) — it's unique, must start with a letter, and may only contain letters, numbers, and underscores. You get one free change, ever; after that it's permanent unless we intervene manually in exceptional cases.
  • Impersonating Garix staff, moderators, or other players (via your username, nickname, or avatar) isn't allowed.

4. Acceptable Use

When using Garix, you agree not to:

  • Harass, threaten, or abuse other players, in chat, usernames, nicknames, or uploaded skins;
  • Upload, transmit, or display content that is illegal, hateful, sexually explicit, or infringes someone else's rights (see §6 for skin-specific content rules);
  • Interfere with or disrupt the Service — including attempts to overload, flood, or take down game servers, or to circumvent connection/rate limits;
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to another player's account, our backend, or systems you're not authorized to access;
  • Copy, download, extract, or redistribute Garix's hats, cell shapes, or other cosmetic artwork, or use them outside the Service (see §11);
  • Use the Service for any purpose prohibited by applicable law, including money laundering or circumventing sanctions through virtual-currency purchases or transfers.

5. Fair Play & Cheating

Garix is a skill-based multiplayer game. The following are prohibited and may result in a warning, a temporary suspension, or a permanent ban, at our discretion:

  • Cheats, bots, and automation — third-party scripts, macros, or modified clients that provide an unfair advantage (auto-split/eject timing, aim/targeting assistance, input automation, or anything that plays the game on your behalf);
  • Exploiting bugs — knowingly abusing a game bug, a client/server desynchronization, or an economy bug (coins, boosts, skins, friend transfers) for personal gain, instead of reporting it;
  • Reverse-engineering the network protocol or client for the purpose of cheating or extracting non-public functionality;
  • Multi-accounting to farm rewards, avoid a ban, or manipulate matches, the leaderboard, or coin transfers (see §3, §8);
  • Boosting/collusion — arranging matches or teaming specifically to artificially inflate leaderboard position or rewards.

6. User Content

Custom skins

Garix lets you upload custom player skins (PNG, JPEG, or WEBP, up to 2MB). Every uploaded skin goes into a moderation queue before it's visible in-game — a moderator can approve or reject it (with a reason, delivered as an in-app notification). We may reject or later remove any skin, at any time, that:

  • infringes someone else's copyright or trademark;
  • depicts real people without their consent, hateful imagery, sexually explicit content, or anything illegal in the jurisdictions Garix operates in;
  • impersonates Garix branding, staff, or another player;
  • reproduces Garix's own hats, cell shapes, or other cosmetic artwork (see §11) — a paid cosmetic can't be re-uploaded as a custom skin.

By uploading a skin, you confirm you own or have the rights to the image, and you grant Garix a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to store, display, and transmit it to other players as part of the Service (i.e., so other players can see your skin in-game). You keep ownership of your own artwork.

Reserved nicknames & usernames

Paid reserved nicknames (customNicks) and your free public username are both subject to the same content rules — no impersonation, no reserved/staff-sounding names, no harassment or slurs. We can revoke a nickname or reset a username that violates this, without a refund of any coins spent reserving it.

Chat

In-match chat messages are relayed live through the game server to other players in your match. The same conduct rules in §4 apply. Don't use chat to harass other players, share personal information about yourself or others, or advertise unrelated services.

7. Virtual Currency & Purchases

Coins are a limited, non-refundable license to access in-game features (reserved nicknames, Mass/View Boosts, cosmetics such as hats and cell shapes, and any future coin-priced item) — they are not real money, have no cash value, cannot be redeemed for cash, and aren't your property in any legal sense; they're a license granted by Garix, revocable if you violate these Terms.

Coins can be obtained by:

  • playing the game and leveling up (level-up milestones grant coins automatically, every 5 levels from 5 to 100);
  • a one-time Starter Pack purchase;
  • purchasing Coin packages with real money;
  • receiving a transfer from an accepted friend (see §8).

Real-money purchases are processed by one of two third-party payment processors, whichever you choose at checkout: Stripe or PayPal. Garix's servers never receive or store your full card number, bank details, or PayPal login — Stripe handles payment on its own secure, PCI-compliant checkout page, and PayPal in its own window, where you approve the payment with your PayPal account. Garix only receives confirmation of the payment and its amount. A package costs the same whichever processor you use. See §13 and our Privacy Policy.

Coins bought through either processor are credited to your account once the processor confirms the payment. If a payment isn't completed (for example, you cancel it or it's still pending with the processor), no Coins are credited.

Refunds & chargebacks

Purchases of Coins and the Starter Pack are generally final and non-refundable, except where required by applicable consumer-protection law. If you have a problem with a purchase, contact us first at support@garix.io. Filing a chargeback or payment dispute with your bank, Stripe, or PayPal instead of contacting us first may result in the associated Coins being removed from your account and the account being suspended while the dispute is investigated, in addition to whatever outcome the processor's dispute process reaches.

Exact package prices/amounts change over time in the Shop and aren't duplicated here to avoid this document going stale — the price and coin amount shown at checkout is what applies to that purchase.

8. Coin Transfers Between Friends

Accepted friends (see §9) whose friendship has existed for at least a minimum cooldown period may send each other Coins directly, subject to a minimum/maximum per transfer and rolling daily limits on both the amount and the number of transfers, enforced server-side. These limits exist to keep the feature a small, personal convenience between friends — not a marketplace.

  • Transfers are final once completed — Garix does not reverse a completed transfer because you changed your mind or sent it to the wrong person, except in cases of confirmed fraud or a proven account-security incident.
  • Using coin transfers to conduct real-money trading (RMT) — i.e., paying or getting paid outside Garix in exchange for a Coins transfer — is prohibited and treated as an economy exploit under §5.
  • We may suspend the transfer feature for an account showing abuse patterns (e.g., many accounts funneling Coins to one account).

9. Social Features

Garix includes a social layer: a public username, a friends list with friend requests, the ability to block another player, a public XP leaderboard (top 25 plus your own rank), and typed in-app notifications. These features are provided as-is, may change, and are not a guaranteed or permanent part of the Service — see §12.

  • Adding, removing, or blocking a friend never grants Coins, XP, or boosts — the social layer carries no gameplay reward for its own sake.
  • Blocking is one-directional and, by design, we don't disclose to a player that they've been blocked, or by whom.
  • Notifications are automatically deleted 14 days after creation and are not kept indefinitely as a message history.

10. Enforcement, Bans & Appeals

We can warn, temporarily suspend, or permanently ban an account for violating these Terms, including (without limitation) the conduct described in §4–§6, at our reasonable discretion. A banned account loses access to all social features (search, leaderboard, friends, transfers) immediately, in addition to being unable to play. We may disclose a ban reason to the affected player; we don't guarantee we'll disclose it to anyone else, and — as described in our Privacy Policy — other players generally can't distinguish a banned account from a nonexistent one through the game's normal social features.

If you believe you were banned in error, you can request a review through our official Discord server or by email at support@garix.io. We don't guarantee a ban will be reversed.

11. Intellectual Property

The Garix name, logo, client software, game design, and all content we provide (excluding content you upload yourself, see §6) are owned by Garix or its licensors and protected by applicable intellectual-property law. These Terms don't grant you any right to Garix's branding, source code, or assets beyond what's necessary to play the game in your browser as intended.

Hats, cell shapes & other cosmetics

Hats, cell shapes, and every other cosmetic Garix offers — including their artwork and image files — belong to Garix. Buying, unlocking, or equipping one gives you a personal, non-transferable, revocable license to display it on your own cells inside Garix only. You don't acquire ownership of the cosmetic or its artwork.

You may not:

  • download, extract, scrape, or otherwise copy the image files of Garix's hats or other cosmetics, from the game client, its network traffic, or our servers;
  • re-upload them as a custom skin (see §6), or display a Garix cosmetic you haven't bought or unlocked through the Service;
  • use them in other games, modified or third-party clients, private servers, or any other product or service;
  • sell, trade, share, or give them away, or give access to them in exchange for money or anything else of value, inside or outside Garix;
  • claim them as your own work or present them as your own creations.

Violating this section is treated like the other violations in §10. We may remove the cosmetic from your account, or suspend or ban it, without a refund of any Coins spent on it. We may also take any other action available to us under applicable intellectual-property law.

12. Service Availability & Changes

Garix is provided on an as-available basis. We don't guarantee uninterrupted access, and we may add, change, or remove features (including gameplay mechanics, game modes, the Shop's contents and prices, boosts, and social features), or take the Service down entirely, at any time and without prior notice. We'll try to be reasonable about it, but this isn't a contractual uptime or feature-permanence commitment.

13. Third-Party Services

Garix relies on a small number of third-party services to work:

  • Google and Discord — for sign-in (OAuth). Your use of those platforms is governed by their own terms.
  • Stripe — for processing real-money purchases. Your payment is subject to Stripe's own terms.
  • PayPal — as an alternative way to process real-money purchases. If you pay with PayPal, your payment is subject to PayPal's own terms. The PayPal button in the Shop is loaded from PayPal's servers.
  • Publicly hosted libraries (Google Fonts, and JavaScript libraries served from jsDelivr, cdnjs, and BootstrapCDN) that the game client loads to render. See our Privacy Policy for what that implies for your connection.

We aren't responsible for those services' own availability, content, or policies.

14. Termination

You can stop using Garix at any time. We may suspend or terminate your account for violating these Terms, or discontinue the Service generally, as described in §10 and §12. Coins and other virtual items have no value outside the Service and are not compensated on termination, except where applicable law requires otherwise.

15. Disclaimers & Limitation of Liability

Garix is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement, to the fullest extent permitted by law. To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Garix and its operator won't be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost data, lost virtual items, or lost profits, arising from your use of — or inability to use — the Service.

Nothing in these Terms limits liability that can't be limited under applicable law (for example, liability for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by negligence, where applicable).

16. Governing Law

Governing law and dispute-resolution venue depend on where Garix's operating entity is legally established, which isn't information available from the game's codebase — this needs to be filled in with the actual jurisdiction ([Governing law / jurisdiction — to be provided by the operator]) before this section is complete.

17. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms as Garix changes. If we make a material change, we'll update the "Last updated" date above; continuing to play after a change takes effect means you accept the updated Terms. If you don't agree with a change, please stop using the Service.

18. Contact

For support, purchase problems, ban appeals, and formal or legal notices about these Terms, email us at support@garix.io.

You can also reach us through our official Discord server (also used for ban appeals, see §10). Email is the channel for anything formal.
